Our client, International Poles was established in 2009 and are one of Australia's leading and most innovative street light poles, sports venue light poles and area light poles suppliers. Wherever you are there's a very good chance that you're walking, or driving by, or standing beneath, a lighting product that was supplied and installed by International Poles!
And right now, they're looking to bring on board an individual who has a desire to build a career in sales, joining as a Sales Cadet.
Who are you? Well, if people describe you as:
- Well spoken;
- Good with numbers;
- Good at juggling multiple priorities at the same time;
- Energetic and driven to achieve and succeed;
- Self-confident but not arrogant;
- Someone who enjoys meeting with lots and lots of new people over the phone;
- A willing learner;
- Comfortable in taking charge of situations when needed;
- Good under pressure;
- Pro-active and keen to take the initiative; and
- Good at reading both people - and the facts...
Then that's a good start.
You don't need experience in sales but a history that shows self-discipline, like martial arts or membership of a sports team or studying something - and also achievements, like school captaincy, or awards, or community recognition. Having worked at McDonalds or Subway, where you learned the value of processes would also be a plus.
Well, ultimately you'll be selling Steel Lighting poles, typically to electricians who specialise in roadway lighting. But to get there you'll be researching and qualifying a market - Calling and getting through to decision makers - Generating what are called "day to day market quotes" and then growing your "quote to sales" book.
The first few months will see you spending time in each of the departments of the business at the Minto warehouse. You'll learn all you need to know about the products and how the business operates, before you're then trained in the sales side.
Why would you?
International Poles are an established Australian-owned company transitioning from an old sales model to a more relevant and modern approach that gives way for young people who want to enter the sales environment and either grow with the business or out grow and move on from the business to a bigger and better environment. (How's that for refreshingly realistic!) You'll be taught and mentored throughout, especially by the business owner, Jamie, who is a very forward-thinking and entrepreneurial guy.
